What's Included In The Course...

MODULE 1
The Write Stuff Unit of Work
The first module gives an overview of big picture for us as teachers and how to be clear about the sequences that we build during the writing process. During this module, you will:
- explore the modes of teaching narrative and non-fiction
- learn how to build a scheme of work, both narrative and non-fiction
- understand how to get the most out of their independent writing and editing processes
You will finish this module with a good idea of the 'big picture' of how The Write Stuff will operate in your class in a real world context.
MODULE 2
The Three Zones of Writing
Jane has deduced that there are 'three zones of writing' and in this module, she gives a detailed explanation of every element, including:
- The FANTASTICs
- The Grammaristics
- The Boomtastics
As well as outlining the contents of the Writing Rainbow, Jane also gives an in-depth instruction on all grammar techniques, and poetic devices.

MODULE 3
The Write Stuff Lesson
In module 3, Jane gets down to the nitty-gritty of a lesson, how it differs from what you might be used to, and focuses on the small details. You'll learn all about:
- The lesson structure
- The importance of live demonstration writing
- The essential role of talk during the lesson
You'll finish this lesson with a clear knowledge of how to deliver an excellent lesson to your pupils every time.

MODULE 4
The Writing Classroom
Module 4 gives an insight into the classroom, how to use the space as part of your teaching and how to create an environment that cherishes writing. During this module you will:
- Learn what 'sentence stacking' is and how to best utilise it
- Understand and use visual narrative and non-fiction maps effectively
- Work on techniques to collect essential vocabulary whilst teaching
Jane also gives insight into the varying elements of narrative and non-fiction support.

MODULE 5
Independent Writing
This is often one of the most tricky parts of teaching writing. You spend weeks teaching them, and then when it is their turn, they tend to often miss the point. This module examines how best to get the most out of your pupils' independent writing. Jane covers:
- Pupil planning both narrative and non-fiction
- The independent write
- Pupils' editing techniques
During this module, you will also examine assessment techniques.
